🎃 Halloween in Japan – Not Really My Thing, But…

It’s Halloween today.

To be honest, I’ve never been into decorating or doing anything special for it. 😅

No pumpkins on the porch, no spiderwebs in the window—just another normal day for me.

That said—when I spend it with friends or with my daughter, I do find it fun.

Last year, we went to DisneySea with two American sisters who are close friends of mine.

My family and theirs all dressed up, had so much fun, and honestly, it was one of the best days ever.

Halloween only became a big thing in Japan in the past 20 years or so.

When I was a kid—about 30 years ago—nobody really celebrated it.

Now? It’s everywhere.

Restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, even train stations are covered in Halloween decorations.

My mom, on the other hand, was totally not into seasonal events.

She never decorated the house, never dressed up.

And if neighborhood kids came to the door asking for candy, she’d be annoyed and say it was a nuisance. 😅

She just didn’t like that kind of thing.

Maybe that’s why, when I saw families and neighbors all getting into Halloween on American TV shows, I found it so heartwarming.

It looked like the kind of thing kids would remember forever.

Since becoming a mom myself, I’ve started enjoying these events more.

I’ll do a little face painting, wear a simple costume, and just have fun with my daughter.

Seeing her smile and get excited—that’s the best part for me.

And honestly? My favorite thing about Halloween is pumpkin desserts. 🎃🍰

I might not go all in on the decorations, but I’ll never say no to a pumpkin-flavored treat!

Trick or treat, everyone! 🎃👻
